This machine is a small version of a Paul Spooner original , the original being 5 or 6 times as big and a great deal more complex , however the small version does reassemble itself.                       

The girl delivers the bad news by moving her lips and stands up to leave, her boyfriend cannot deal with the resulting emotion and promptly collapses in a heap with his chair.He is a vegetarian hence the cucumber painted inside his torso. The machine then resets itself.  

 The box is Douglas fir with a beech ,brass, steel and string mechanism the couple are carved of lime wood.                                                                                                                                              

The model is 130mm x 90mm x 210mm high. There are 12 only , made in December 1994.
